זַרְזִיר

זַרְזִירII m. (Syr. זרזירא P. Sm. 1156, Ar. zurzur; prob. fr. זור to circle) starling, also (collect.) flock of starlings. Ḥull.62a להביא את הז׳ (Sifra Shmini, Par. 3, ch. V חזַרְזִירִים, Ar. רין …) to include the starling (in the genus raven). Ḥull. l. c.; B. Kam.92b (prov.) לא לחנם הלך ז׳וכ׳ not without cause does the starling follow the raven ; Gen. R. s. 65, beg.
